Lehi's Dream - The Tree of Life

Lehi’s Dream – The Tree of Life
I’ve got to find a way to put this on paper.  As we’ve been studying the Tree of Life in Lehi’s Dream (1 Nephi 8, 11), I’ve had a new thought that will not go away.  It is most intriguing and as I look at the life of those who are drawn to the Large and Spacious Building (LSB), it seems to be holding water.
The LSB is without foundation (up in the air).  (1 Nephi 8:26). It looks like a pretty fun place to hang out.  The people inside are mocking and pointing fingers at those that are holding fast and clinging to the Iron Rod.  There are a lot of people moving in the direction of the LSB.  And there are a lot inside.  The way is wide with strange roads (there are many ways to take the wrong road).
As I’ve looked at the details of both visions, I can see that my thoughts don’t really hold water (1 Nephi 11:35), but I would suggest that the LSB is a mirage anyway.  Also, I would suggest that the people aren’t happy inside that building.  Sometimes, the only time we are happy is when we are putting others down, which is what is happening.  I would also suggest that no matter how hard we work to get to that LSB, we won’t really ever get there.  There will always be something else we must have.  We’re never rich enough, popular enough, smart enough, have enough to be happy inside that building.  Somebody else always has more.
I’ve watched my daughter struggle to find any happiness in this life.  No matter what she has, she always wants something else. She spoils what is because of what it isn’t.  I’ve seen her do this over and over again.  The LSB DOES NOT bring joy or happiness – not even perceived happiness.  It brings entertainment at times, but it seems to always be at the expense of someone else, if not ourselves.
