Helaman 2
These chapters really do frighten me because I can see similarities in our own day – as we’ve been told we should. In this chapter Kishkumen devises a plan to go into the judgment seat and kill Helaman. There is a group (band) of robbers behind Kishkumen and they have covenanted together to kill Helaman. This plan was exposed to a servant of Helaman who pretended to be one of them and in the process was able to kill Kishkumen. This is not the end of the Gadianton robbers though and Moroni warns us at the end of this chapter that we’ll be hearing more about them and that they are the demise of the Nephites.
I received an email just yesterday regarding some questionable decisions made by the president of the United States. His lawyer who took a very long time, but eventually proved his citizenship, was appointed to be on the Supreme Court. It would seem there is a plot to hide some things from the American people. The person who funds SNOPES, which is a truth or fiction site one can visit on the internet to verify a story that is circulating, is good friends with this person who sits on the Supreme Court – Elena Kagan was her name. These kinds of things really concern me. We can’t be sure what we are hearing is truth anymore and we know there are those that for some reason would take down the beautiful things that are America.
As I talked about this with Clyde last night, he said, “Remember the King Men”. Why do people want to do us harm? If we could be left alone to do the good that is our potential, this nation would be amazing. Why would someone want to destroy that? I just don’t understand.
The part I have to play in all of this seems so small in comparison with the work that must be done. First and foremost, in my own little way I must be involved in the voting process and vote responsibly. If I want to continue life as I know it (and we all know that’s not going to happen. I am grateful for modern prophecy.), then I must be ever vigilant in defending those things I know to be true. The more people who know their righteous responsibility, the better our chances to defeat evil design, aka modern-day Gadianton robbers.
