Christ - He is a man!

Ether 3

The brother of Jared takes sixteen stones and prays to the Lord to touch them that they will light the barges.  The Lord – Christ – shows forth his hand and touches the stones, thus giving them light.

This is an amazing chapter in the Book of Mormon.  We learn that Christ has a body of flesh and blood – just like ours.  I was reminded of the talk Matt Townsend gave to our RS sisters in our stake last month and he said “He’ll have hair on his arms – just like a man.”  Christ is a man!  Do we really comprehend what that means?  I know sometimes I tend to make it bigger because what he does is so big.

One thing I noticed – possibility because it is something that my Stake President is so big on.  Christ ministered to the brother of Jared just as he ministered to the Nephites when he was with them (v18).   What does that look like?  In 3 Nephi 13 – he teaches.  Also, he focuses on “the one” as he had each one individually come and touch his wounds.  They did not do this as a group, but one-by-one.

This is a focus our Stake President is trying to help us embrace.  Do I serve individually, or to a group?  I know as I seek out individuals to sit by and have short conversations with them, I feel more strongly a love for my calling and a love for the women whom I serve.  I believe ministering is an important tool the Lord has given us to “be his hands” and thus love as He loved.

I need to remember this as I serve in whatever capacity I’m called.
