Faith He is There

Ether 11-12

Weekends can get a little crazy around here and such was the case this weekend.  I read, but didn’t have time to really chew on the things I had read.

In Ether 11, I have to say it was just an account of one man after another being either good or bad.  Who knows how long this went on?  I can’t help but wonder if even Moroni may have grown weary recording it.

However, Ether 12 is one of my favorites – a discourse on the power of faith.  Do I have the kind of faith Jared had that I might see the finger of the Lord?  I know the Lord loves me and is very involved in my life.  I know I can return to him, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him.  However, I don’t believe there is a reason for me to see him, and I’m okay with that.   In fact, I believe there are reasons I don’t see him.  It just probably is because I need to have the blessing of moving by faith in all that I do.

I witnessed that kind of faith in others this weekend as we had two men from the Seventy’s as our visiting authorities at stake conference.  They exercised amazing faith at our Saturday session of conference in that they had no prepared talks, but rather turned the session into a Question and Answer.  They had total faith that the Lord would provide, and He definitely did.  He provided intelligent young people with sincere desires to be doing the Lord’s will, to ask thoughtful questions that many of them probably have.  Then they were able to show forth their guidance by the Spirit to supply answers that were so meaningful.  I don’t know when I have been in a meeting where the Spirit was any stronger than it was then.  It was because of the faith of these two great men, and the faith of those present to receive that we were able to experience this.  Perhaps having experiences such as these are even greater than actually seeing the finger of the Lord.
