2 Nephi 30 – FB Question:
Why is it helpful to know that righteousness will eventually triumph
over wickedness?
Sometimes life can be a challenge to navigate. We can grow weary of the pace we must go even
when we aren’t confronted with physical, emotional or spiritual woes. However, the Lord has promised that it will
be for a time only, and then righteousness will triumph.
Sometimes trials and challenges we face can feel like our life
instead of the sifting the Lord speaks of.
I tell my children “this isn’t your life; it is just now”. We can handle anything for a little
while. And if we endure it well, we will
see the hand of the Lord do his miracles in our lives and what joy we will
feel. Even as we are moving through the
trial, if we stay in tune with the Holy Ghost, we will see the Lord’s hand and
be encouraged to endure.
I also read from 2 Nephi 8 this morning. I found comfort in v22 – Thus saith thy Lord,
the Lord and thy God pleadeth the cause of his people; (that would be me too)
behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, the dregs of the
cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again. (There will be an end to this trial.) Then in 23 – But I will put it into the hand
of them that afflict thee. . .” To me,
this is righteousness triumphing over wickedness.
Ok, do I really want those who afflict me to pay? Not necessarily. That is not my nature. I’ll leave that up to the Lord. It is good enough for me to know that my
afflictions will some day come to an end.
Without this knowledge, a trial could seem like eternity, which it
sometimes does anyway.
