3 Nephi 26
Jesus expounds all things from the beginning to the end. Babes speak. Those in the Church of Christ have all things in common among them.
This is an amazing time in the Book of Mormon. For three days Jesus was mingling among them and teaching them. It sounds to me like it was even longer than the three days of teaching. In v13 it says “. . .he did show himself unto them oft. . .” It would be hard to ignore an event like this in your life. What was the result of such attention? The people lived the law of consecration. All things were common among them (v19). I’ve written in the margin “Zion people”. This is what we are to be striving toward.
Another fascination I have with this chapter is the fact that not even a hundredth part of what Jesus taught them was recorded. Why? To try our faith! Then my mind wanders to what it might be. Would it have been simple ways to care for our bodies? Simple methods trickle into the natural health regime and you wonder where this information came from in the first place. This is just me talking here. I’m just wondering. Could it have been how to care for this amazing world we live in? Then I wonder why couldn’t that have been written. Needless to say, it wasn’t written for our own good – to try our faith. Has it worked for me? Well, I certainly believe the Book of Mormon to be true. So in that area, I guess it worked. But I do look forward to more truth.
