3 Nephi 39 & 30
I couldn’t resist reading both chapters. Jesus tells the people of the coming forth of the Book of Mormon and that it is a sign that the Lord has begun to gather Israel and fulfill his covenants. Those who reject these miracles will be cursed.
Tuesday night I was watching the new Joseph Smith movie – The Golden Plates or something like that. It was not easy for Joseph Smith to translate the Book of Mormon. Naysayers were relentless in their efforts to get them from him. They were like demons and really quite creepy. I realize this was a movie, but it was consistent with all I’ve read about it as well.
In v5 there is warning to those who spurn at the doings of the Lord; those who deny Christ and his work. What is the definition of spurn? To reject disdainfully or contemptuously; scorn. Synonyms: To kick at or tread on disdainfully. It behooves us all to embrace modern revelation.
I have no doubt of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. Every time I read it, I seem to understand it more. I know Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are Father and son, and the Holy Ghost bears witness to me of their divinity and the truth of the Book of Mormon. I am sad when those I love – and anyone for that matter – rejects these truths.
