Oh, how beautiful are the feet!

3 Nephi 20

Jesus is speaking to the people again.  He provides bread and wine to administer the sacrament.  He tells the people that he is the prophet like Moses and the Nephites are children of the prophets.  The Lord’s people will be gathered in at the last day.

It is getting to be a challenge to read anything from the Book of Mormon without running it through my “daughter filter”.  I believe it would be impossible to read this book and not be struck with its truthfulness.  How could you read and not desire to have the chains that bind you be removed as spoken in v37?  And then he even says, “O captive daughter of Zion.”  I know he’s speaking about the people in general, but I would take that personally.  Yes!  Please remove these bands.  I can’t take it anymore!!!!  Like I said, everything I read goes through my daughter filter.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is being preached today, just as Jesus said it would be (v30).  The watchman has lifted up his voice. (v32)  The watchman is the Lord’s prophet.  It means Joseph Smith as well as all succeeding prophets.  Everything the prophets ever say is to bring the people back into the fold.

And as one who has been rescued, I can say I sing.  “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings . . .”  I have a love for the people who did not ignore the call to rescue me.  They were good men and women who understood their mission.

So where exactly was the nugget I picked up this morning?  Perhaps my nugget is the entire chapter.  I see the truth of it in my own life and pray for my children and all I love to be able to see it in their own lives as well.
