3 Nephi 19
Jesus ministers to the twelve apostles. They are baptized and receive the Holy Ghost.
Something of interest is that this is the third time Nephi is baptized. Why was it necessary to be baptized at this time? Because it is a new dispensation. At least that’s what I put in my margin.
In verses 14-15 it says angels came and ministered to them as they were praying. Then it says that Jesus came and stood in the midst of them and ministered unto them. The question crossed my mind: What does that look like? How does one minister to someone who is being ministered to? I think it is answered in v20 where Jesus is praying to the father for them. He is also thanking Heavenly Father for them. This brought up an interesting thought. We are ministering to others when we are praying for them by name. I really like that thought. Some days I’m hard on myself because I feel I haven’t ministered to anyone – or at least done anything to better the life of another. Well, it would seem to me that praying for someone else’s welfare is indeed ministering. I do that daily.
