Alma 6 – Alma continues to teach the word in Zarahemla. The word is made available to everyone. They were taught that they should gather together oft, fast and pray in behalf of others.
There is a pattern set forth by Alma that the brethren follow today, and that we should pattern in our own families. “Teach them correct principles and let them govern themselves”. If we follow the pattern set forth, we will meet with fellow members of the church often and include them in our petitions to the Lord. We gather as families and do the same, thus strengthening family ties that were actually created long before we came to earth.
Speaking of strengthening family ties created long before we were born, this is what I’m learning from the book I’m reading, “Trailing Clouds of Glory” by Widdison – a fascinating book! I found it extremely interesting that one of the conference speakers today told a story of a very sick young girl who saw her grandparents and other relatives who died before she was born, and described them to her parents. There was no other way should would have known them.
