Alma 15 – In this chapter there is a valuable lesson as to the connection between our health and our guilt. Alma and Amulek went to Sidon where they discovered Zeezrom who was so ridden with guilt in the part he played in the destruction of so many righteous people that he was sick and unable to function. After Zeezrom declared that he believed in Christ and all things Alma had taught, Alma called upon the power of Christ to heal him. Zeezrom leaped from his bed a well and changed man and from that time forth he preached unto the people.
Not always is being sick a result of our evil behavior and guilt. However, I do know that our feelings have serious impact upon our health. When we know what is right and we don’t act on that knowledge, there is guilt, and it eats at the very fibers of our soul. We become weak spiritually and physically!
How does this apply to me? Those things I do which cause me guilt I need to repent of quickly – giving them to my Savior. Then move forward as did Zeezrom and serve in God’s kingdom. There is also the obligation to help others draw the connection between feelings and health when the Spirit directs.
