Patience

Alma 19 – The word

King Lamoni believes and is overpowered for three days by the spirit.  Some think he’s dead.  The Queen believes Ammon when he says he is not dead and stays by the King until he awakes.  This shows her faith.  How does that work?  Why is the word so powerful, yet some just don’t get it?  We see the same thing today.
There was a time when “the word” didn’t work for me.  I went my way as did “many among them (Lamanites) who would not hear . . .” v32.  Is that the difference?  Because years later, I heard the word and soaked it up like a dry sponge.  So what made the difference for me?  Pain and unhappiness.  Seeing that others around me were happy and I wanted it.  I was ready.

So what does this tell me?  To be patient with those who “would not hear and turn away”.  We all must have our own experience in this life.  As a mother, sometimes the words are easier to write than to do.
