Alma 8 – Alma continues to teach throughout the land – organizing the church in the areas he visits. I could not help but think of the brethren today as they come to our Stake conferences. A goodly portion of their time is spent teaching the Stake and Ward leaders how to run the affairs of God’s kingdom in their own units.
Alma is rejected and persecuted in Ammonihah. He leaves and an angel (same one who first appeared to Alma) came to him and instructed him to return. Alma's obedience is evidence of his fulfilling the checklist mentioned in Alma 7:23-24. He was totally submissive to the will of the Lord. This submission provided for him a new friend – Amulek, who had been told by an angel that he was to take Alma in and care for him. What a blessing they were to each other! We must learn to trust that Heavenly Father has a plan. I am beginning to see that more and more in my own life and the lives of my children as they face various challenges. There is a plan.
