The Word

Alma 16 – The city of Ammonihah is destroyed.  Alma and Amulek are free to teach the people.  There is no inequality in all the land and the Spirit prepared them to receive the word which would be taught at Christ’s coming.  As I ponder this, I wonder why would they have to be prepared for what Christ would teach them?  For exactly the same reason we need to be familiar with the scriptures and the words of prophets today.  When we see the prophecies being fulfilled, we will recognize it and we will know the time is nigh when Christ will return.

I find the timing interesting.  In Alma 16, we are still 78 years before Christ’s birth.  When Christ is born, most of these people will be dead!  But those who understand the Lord’s plan will diligently teach their children so they will believe and watch for the signs as well.

So how does this apply to me?  I taught my children.  I am still covenant bound to use every opportunity to bear my testimony in word and deed to those I come in contact with as well as my children and grandchildren.  Sometimes, that is done by my actions as well as what I say.
